Seymour Time

About Us...

Welcome to Seymour FM - Local People & Great Music !

SEYMOUR FM 103.9 is a locally based membership controlled not-for-profit community broadcasting station.

Coverage is provided to Seymour, Broadford, Nagambie, Avenel, Puckapunyal and Tallarook.

SEYMOUR FM now broadcasts from its new studios at Emily Street (@ Seymour Trade Centre), this comes after four years at the Mobs Sidings location at Wimble Street.

Presently Seymour FM operates on an annually renewed Temporary Community Broadcasting Licence, and we expect to be granted a permanent licence within the next 24 months.

The radio station presents a variety of programs, and all participants within Seymour FM are volunteers. Additionally, the station is operated in accordance with the Community Broadcasting Code of Practice

NEW EFFORT FOR IMPROVED TRANSMITTER SITE

With coverage and broadcast range recently improved with the purchase of a new transmitter, the radio station is seeking to improve coverage with a move to a higher location. A number of sites have been previously considered, however we are now reviewing a new possible site at the Go Carts.

FUNDRAISING & COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Community based Fundraising is essential for the ongoing operation of the radio station. Contrary to the opinion of some, Seymour FM does not receive annual subsidies, and is not paid for by government or the local council. The fact is that the radio station is reliant on local support from its members (which is open to anyone to join!), local business advertising / sponsorship and fundraising activities.

Unlike in some other regions, Seymour FM was not offered any free council owned building space, therefore fundraiaing and local financial backingis essential for survival and properity.

VOLUNTEERS

The radio station is totally volunteer operated - no-one is paid to be on air or behind the scenes at Seymour FM. We provide training opportunities for new presenters, to learn and develop the skills needed to sound their best on the radio station.

COMMITTEE OF MANAGEMENT

The Committee is elected annually by the members at the Annual General Meeting. Like any organisation, the Committee needs dedicated, sharp thinking and business / community minded people to move the station forward.
