MITCHELL SHIRE - COUNCIL MEETING
Mitchell Shire Council meetings commence at 6.30pm with a closed session followed by the ordinary meeting open to the public commencing at 7.00pm.
Council meetings are open to the public and provide opportunities for public participation via “Question” time. HAVE YOUR SAY !!!!!

Saturday 13 March - PICNIC TRAIN FROM SEYMOUR TO MARYBOROUGH VIA MELBOURNE
On Saturday 13th March 2010 join the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre (SRHC) for a relaxing long day out when the Heritage Train sets out from Seymour bound for the Historic City of Ballarat and the Central Victorian Goldfields town of Maryborough.
The train will depart the historic Seymour station nice and early at 7.00 am. Stops will be made along the North East line to pick up passengers at Broadford (7.25 am), Kilmore East (7.39 am), Wallan (7.55 am), and Essendon (8.35 am) before arriving at Spencer Street Station (Southern Cross) at 8.49 am.
The train will then depart from Spencer Street Station (Southern Cross) at 9.30 am. A stop will be made to pick up passengers at North Shore (10.54am) before the train heads onto Ballarat travelling via North Geelong for an arrival in Ballarat at 12.09 pm.

BROADFORD FIRE BRIGADE - FUNDRAISER
The Broadford Senior Citizens Club is holding a fundraiser event for the Broadford Fire Brigade on Saturday 20th March, at the Broadford Town Hall (in the Council buildings).
The evening will be filled with food, music and entertainment. A number of bands and musicians are lending their musical performances to the event and some significant prizes have been donated for a raffle, including an electric guitar, a painting, craft items, wine and much more.
Tickets are available prior to the event, or at the door on the night. Make up a table of friends and pre-purchase your ticket ($12.50 or $25 for a family pass) from the Senior Citizens or the Fire Brigade.

Rides, spinning wheel, face painting, food hall, produce, cakes, trash 'n' treasure, raffles, treats, and live to air radio broadcast all day on Seymour FM 103.9.
Saturday 3 April - SRHC EASTER PICNIC TRAIN - SEYMOUR TO TOCUMWAL
On Easter Saturday 3rd April 2010 the Tocumwal Picnic Train is scheduled to depart the historic Seymour Railway Station at 8.40 am. Stops will be made at Nagambie (9.10 am) and Shepparton (10.06 am) to pick up passengers.
During the journey a kiosk and bar will be in operation aboard the train providing a range of snacks and refreshments. Special carriages on this train will include State Car No 4 and the former Spirit of Progress Parlor Car. Both of these carriages will be open for inspection during the journey.
The train is scheduled to arrive in Tocumwal at 11.45 am. You will have over 3 ˝ hours in Tocumwal, so you may decide to:
- Bring along a Picnic Lunch and enjoy it on the River Foreshore.
- Dine out in one of Tocumwal’s eateries.
- Enjoy one of the Easter Heritage Train Tour Options (More details see website).
These options must be pre-booked.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO ASSIST THE RELAY FOR LIFE - 17 & 18 April
Assistance is required in running the Relay For Life weekend. Tasks include: setting up, registering walkers, selling merchandise, keeping the grounds tidy, re-stocking equipment and parking attendance.

EASTERN LIONS KART CLUB - EASTER WEEKEND
Eastern Lions Kart Club are holding the AKA National Sprint Kart Championships over the Easter weekend.
Racing commences Friday 2 April until Sunday 4 April.
Spectators welcome.
Canteen and toilet facilities available.
Gates open 8:30 am until conclusion of racing.
SEYMOUR BATTLE OF THE BANDS
The 2010 Mitchell Battle of the Bands will be held at Goulburn Park, Seymour
on Saturday 17 April as part of National Youth Week.

VIETNAM VETERANS COMMEMORATIVE WALK - update
Shortly you will see some activity in the median strip in High St, don’t be alarmed it is just us progressing with the construction of “Luscombe Bowl”
The fundraising for the Walk in High Street Seymour is progressing well and if you want to be part of it click on to the appropriate links on the website, or see our friendly people in the Veterans Centre, Station St, Seymour.
There will be a stall at the Alternative Farming Expo in February where raffle tickets and memorabilia are for sale. See you there.

A fundraiser for cancer research, prevention programs and support services for people facing cancer.
Seymour Relay For Life teams will take turns to walk through the night to raise funds. The Relay will commence on 17 April.
